The ability to build healthy, connected, and attuned relationships with self, others and the natural world is one of the most important skills any person can acquire and can be embodied in multiple ways. Anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD all share the challenge of disconnection: from self, from other people and/or from the community. By engaging with the therapeutic team of a mental health professional, a horse professional and one or more horses, we can impact and improve both the physiology — self-regulation — and the psychology — the patterns of thinking — of our clients, creating lasting change well beyond the therapeutic benefits of simply being with animals.

Individual Therapy
Our therapy harnesses the physiological and psychological connection between humans and horses to promote healing. This hands-on approach moves beyond conversations about challenges, allowing participants to learn through experience, often leading to positive transformations more swiftly than traditional therapy methods.
The therapy primarily occurs on the ground, alongside carefully chosen horses. Unlike humans, horses do not criticize or judge; instead, they react to human actions candidly and without bias. Our therapy involves weekly sessions with a therapeutic team comprised of a Licensed Mental Health Clinician, an equine professional, and our horses
Group Services
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) offers groups, businesses, teams, healthcare organizations, and schools a unique opportunity for growth.
WE PROVIDE:
An opportunity to identify patterns and re-examine their usefulness
A visceral, tactile understanding of yourself that goes beyond intellectual awareness. Immediate results and "aha's" in just one session!
Our programs utilize the power of the horse to generate opportunities for significant, tangible change in individual and team performance, cooperation, communication, and leadership.
Veteran Services
Since 2003, Heart of Horse Sense has supported thousands of veterans. Our team specializes in PTSD & Trauma, substance abuse, military sexual trauma, anger management, and depression/anxiety.
Horses serve as a gateway for veterans and their families to address a range of challenges, from enhancing communication to developing skills for managing trauma and anxiety. The veteran services include individual therapy, group sessions, and the unique bi-monthly veteran group, Fall in Friday.
The majority of veterans can access these services at little or no cost.
Tours & Demonstrations
Equine Assisted Services enable a profound connection with ourselves and others. If you have experienced a relationship with a horse, you might understand the healing they can offer.
Whether you're an individual, part of a group, or represent a nonprofit or other business seeking more information, you can join our quarterly tour and demonstration or reach out to bring horses to your location for a visit.
